Inspector General of Bangladesh Police Inaugurated 8th Batch of MACPM and Cyber Security Lab, and Inspected International Police Research and Innovation Centre (IPRIC).
The Inaugural Ceremony of the 8th batch of Master of Applied Criminology and Police Management (MACPM) was held on 17 February 2024 at Police Staff College Bangladesh. The respected Inspector General of Bangladesh Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun BPM (Bar), PPM was the Chief Guest of the program chaired by Dr. Mallick Faqrul Islam bpm, ppm, Rector, Police Staff College Bangladesh. Barrister Md. Harun-Ar-Rashid BPM, Additional IGP (HRM), Police Headquarters was present as a Special Guest, and a Welcome Speech was given by MDS (Academic) Md. Golam Rasul.
Police Staff College is the Apex Institution of Bangladesh Police established on 30 November, 2000 for imparting training and education. On average, 800 to 1000 students, mostly police personnel from home and abroad get training and education from Police Staff College Bangladesh each year. MACPM has been the flagship Master program of Police Staff College Bangladesh since its inception in the 2015-16 session.
In the ceremony, the respected Inspector General of Bangladesh Police said that the use of modern technology and the changing global social order have added a multifaceted dimension to the activities of crime and criminals. Crimes like terrorism, militancy, and extremism have been emerging in our country due to the influence of global crime. He also said that Bangladesh Police is working relentlessly to fight those crimes through higher education and technological development. Bangladesh Police is successfully conducting education, training, and research programs to combat such domestic, regional, and international multi-dimensional crimes. He specially stated that as a result of the sincere desire of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Police Staff College Bangladesh started its journey in 2000 and continues to make special contributions in the field of training and research.
Before inaugurating the course, he inaugurated the newly constructed Cyber Lab of the Police Staff College Bangladesh and later visited the International Police Research and Innovation Centre. He assured all-round support in the field of higher education and research.
Dr. Mallick Faqrul Islam bpm, ppm, Rector, Police Staff College Bangladesh said in his closing speech that from the academic year 2015-2016, this 1-year master’s program is being conducted at the Police Staff College Bangladesh under the National University. The MACPM program is open to students from other backgrounds besides police officers. Like the previous batches, a blend of policemen, officers of military and civil departments, lawyers, teachers, development workers, etc. is visible in the new batch. He expressed the hope that Smart Policing will help strengthen the foundation of Smart Bangladesh by increasing professional knowledge and skills in crime management through this course. He expressly thanked the respected IGP for his gracious presence and sincere cooperation. He also thanked the guests who came along with the representatives of the National University.
Senior officers of the Bangladesh Police, teachers of various universities, students, and management of MACPM, and faculty members of Police Staff College were present at the event.
