Workshop Held on ‘Crime Analysis as a Force Multiplier’ at PSC

 

A workshop has been organized by Police Staff College Bangladesh titled ‘Crime Analysis as a Force Multiplier’ on 18th September 2023 at ICC Hall, PSC. Dr. Mallick Faqrul Islam bpm, ppm, Rector, Police Staff College Bangladesh was present as Honorable Chief Guest. Special Guest  Dr. Michael Jenkins, Chair, Department of Criminal Justice, Cybersecurity & Sociology of the University of Scranton, Pennsylvania, USA, and Dr. Mohammad Bin Kashem, Dean (Curriculum), National University Bangladesh presented their papers during the workshop chaired by Mr. S M Aktaruzzaman, SDS (Academic and Research), Police Staff College Bangladesh. Mr. MD. Golam Rasul, MDS (Academic and Research), Police Staff College Bangladesh to deliver the welcome speech.

Dr. Michael Jenkins received his Ph.D. from Rutgers School of Criminal Justice, under the mentorship of famed "broken windows" theorist George Kelling. He was a Fulbright Scholar with the London Metropolitan Police. He has two published books on Policing. He is the founding executive director of the University's Center for the Analysis and Prevention of Crime (CAPoC). He refreshed the principles of Robert Peel’s values of policing. Later, discussed the police and community equation in terms of problem-oriented policing (SARA Model and Problem Analysis Triangle); community-oriented policing, and community problem-solving through data analysis, CompStat/RespectStat, Risk Terrain Modelling, etc.

Dr. Mohammad Bin Kashem received his B. A (Hon’s) and M.A. in Sociology from the University of Chittagong, M.S. in Criminal Justice from the University of Baltimore, Maryland, USA, and Ph.D. in Criminology from the University of Queensland. Australia. He was a Fulbright Scholar. He has several published book chapters on the Criminal Justice System. He presented the findings of his research on beat policing in Dhaka.

Senior officials of Police Staff College Bangladesh, faculties from the University of Dhaka, National University Bangladesh & Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University, Tangail, and respected senior officials from different Police units like Police Headquarters, Dhaka Metropolitan Police, Special Branch, Criminal Investigation Department, Police Bureau of Investigation were present among the audience.
