Khandker Golam Faruq, bpm (bar), ppmAdditional Inspector General of Police, assumed office on 20 February 2022 as the 13th Rector of Police Staff College Bangladesh. He is one of the most iconic senior officers of Bangladesh Police and has immense experience in the areas of crime and organizational management. He has obtained his Honors in BSc (Agriculture) from Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University, Dhaka. He holds Master’s Degree in Political Science from the Asian University of Bangladesh.

He began his professional career as a member of Bangladesh Civil Service (Police) under the Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh on 20 January 1991. He is a member of the 12th BCS batch. He started his career as Assistant Superintendent of Police at 4-APBN Bogra. After serving there, he joined CMP Chattogram. His next workplace was Khagrachori District where he served diligently for more than three years. His last workstation as ASP was DMP Dhaka - the largest police unit of Bangladesh Police. Afterwards, he served as Additional SP at the districts of Khulna and Satkhira. After getting promoted as Police Super, his first posting place was Police Headquarters as AIG Confidential. Due to his dedication, intelligence and hard work, Khandker Golam Faruq was appointed as Superintendent of Police (SP) in numerous districts such as Thakurgaon, Kishoreganj, Jhalokathi, Jamalpur, and Mymensingh. As Additional DIG, he worked at DMP, Dhaka and Dhaka Range Police. Afterwards, He worked as Additional Commissioner (Traffic) at DMP. He also served as DIG of Rangpur Range Police and Chattogram Range Police. Later on he was appointed as Principal of Bangladesh Police Academy, Sardah, Rajshahi.

As a recognition of his extraordinary and exemplary service to the people, he has been awarded Bangladesh Police Medal (bpm-Sheba) twice, in 2006 and in 2018. He was awarded the President Police Medal (ppm-Sheba) in 2015. These are the most prestigious professional awards in Bangladesh Police. He was also the proud recipient of the IGP Exemplary Good service badge in 2019. He attended different training courses at home and abroad including “INTERPOL and Federal Bureau of Investigation International Law Enforcement Critical Infrastructure Symposium” in 2014 and a special training in Nepal, held in 2019. He visited many countries such as South Korea, China, Thailand, Turkey and the United States. He served in peacekeeping missions of the United Nations in Angola from 1997 to 1999.

He is happily married with Ms Sharmin Akter Khan and blessed with three daughters. At his leisure hours, he likes to spend time with his family and he also likes to travel both home and abroad. His favorite sport is tennis. He is a source of inspiration to all the officers of Bangladesh Police because of his successful and impact-filled career.
